What is the Difference Between Distance Education and Formal Education?

When we compare formal education and distance education; In formal education, lessons are taught in a classroom environment, and in distance education, lessons are taught in a virtual classroom. In formal education, students are given face-to-face homework and projects to do research. In distance education, homework and projects are given through a system called (Learning Management System). In formal education, midterm and end-of-year exams are held face to face in order to evaluate students. In distance education, exams (in the form of project assignments) are carried out over the internet.

How Many Years or Semesters is the Education Duration?

The education period at our university is 4 years for undergraduate programs and 2 years for associate and master's programs. However, depending on work performance, these periods can be reduced by almost half. This should be considered as a plus feature brought by distance education.

Is There a Requirement for Attendance?

There is no compulsory attendance at our university. Courses can be studied at any time interval. However, course follow-up is carried out; However, students are not given projects for unfinished courses. For this reason, it is very important for the student to study without interrupting the lessons.

Is There Repeat of Grades or Courses?

The student must get sufficient grades from the project he prepared. Unless he gets enough grades, he will not be able to take the courses of the next semester. Therefore, in case of failure, the student will take the same course again in the next semester and prepare new homework.

Do You Offer Exam-Free Transfer Opportunity for Two-Year Graduates?

Yes. The student may be exempt from the courses he/she has taken up to that point and be able to transfer.

Does anyone know the undergraduate diploma I will receive from you from universities abroad?

The diploma received from our university is an internationally valid diploma. It is valid at universities that provide similar education abroad and you can apply to these universities for master's or doctoral programs. The applied university may or may not accept the application based on the qualifications of the students.

Do I Have the Opportunity to Register Directly to Master's Degree Programs?

If the applicant has a bachelor's degree, he or she can apply to master's programs. It is recommended that the graduate program of interest is related to the completed undergraduate program.

Do I Have the Possibility to Register as a Second University?

Yes. Especially our people who have graduated from any undergraduate program and are working will be able to learn and study in other departments they want to study and continue their business lives.

Do I Have the Possibility to Delete My Registration Whenever I Want?

Deregistration is possible as long as certain conditions are met. These conditions are clearly stated in the University Registration Agreement; It will also be explained to students in detail during the registration interview.

Why is your university economical?

In the distance education method, costs are minimized. This is directly reflected on the students. In addition, our university has made a conscious choice to reduce its profit margin to a very minimum. Our desire is for those who cannot read due to social and economic reasons; or to offer the most attractive learning opportunities to our citizens who are currently working but want to study a new department. In addition, the student is exempt from the expenses spent on formal education in distance education. For example, city change costs, accommodation costs and travel expenses.

What is Distance Education Not?

  • Distance education is not a second-class education applied alongside formal education.
  • Distance education is not a form of education used by poor countries; this system is primarily implemented by the richest and most industrialized countries in the world.

What are the Registration Period and the Required Conditions and Documents for Registration?

What is Distance Education?

Distance Education is a learning method prepared as an alternative to traditional learning methods. In this method, there are efficient programs developed for students. It is an institutional education activity where students, teachers and teaching materials from different locations are brought together through communication technologies. Thus, students who want to continue their education can easily continue their education through information technologies without making any spatial changes.

How are the exams conducted?

At our university, passing a class is based on projects, not exams. The student is given a project topic based on the courses taken in certain periods. These project assignments of the student are subject to scoring. In this way, the student's course success is determined. With this method, students are also asked and enabled to use the knowledge they have acquired concretely.

Equivalence Status of Distance Education in Turkey

Our university is a higher education institution accredited in the EU. Our University's Distance Education Programs do not yet have equivalence in Turkey.

 


If equivalence is granted to Distance Education Programs by YÖK, all conditions specified in Article 10 of the Equivalence Regulation will be met by the University.

 


(Article 10 of the Regulation on Equivalence for Foreign Higher Education Diplomas dated 06.11.2010 and numbered 27751: Diplomas received from distance education programs; recognition, accreditation or quality assurance of the higher education institution that issues the diploma and the program in which the education is carried out by the competent authorities of the country in which it operates, as an institution authorized to issue diplomas. It must be accredited by institutions and be an institution recognized by the Council of Higher Education, it must be accepted for admission to higher education, the total of program credits must be in line with the total credits of the equivalent formal education program in that country, the program achievements determined in formal education and the program achievements of distance education of the same program must be compatible, and It is accepted or rejected after being evaluated in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation, by seeking the conditions that the measurement and evaluation system of the distance education program is auditable, that the distance education conducted abroad is not in Turkish, that the program in which the education is given is equivalent to a similar Turkish higher education program, and that the level of education and field of education are clearly determined. )
If Distance Education Programs receive equivalence, students who graduate from these programs will apply INDIVIDUALLY to the equivalence unit of YÖK and follow the equivalence procedures INDIVIDUALLY.
